Sewage heat pump
BG 34/2021, The Illustrated Guide to Renewable Technologies, 2nd edition, written by Michelle Agha-Hossein and David Bleicher and published by BSRIA in 2021, states: ‘Sewage heat pumps utilise thermal energy carried by wastewater for heating and cooling large buildings. In this section the terms ‘sewage’ and ‘wastewater’ have been used interchangeably. Sewage has a stable temperature of, on average, between 10 and 20°C. During the heating season, waste heat is removed from the wastewater through the evaporator and transferred to indoors by the condenser. During the cooling season, heat is removed from the building and is transferred to the wastewater through the condenser.’
